The weigh station barge is in it's spot behind AJ's, the viewing stands are in place and everything is ready to go. The weigh-master for the past 25 years, Bruce Cheves, is prepared and excited that it's finally time for him to do his annual thing. Bruce has worked as a mate on the Charter Destin Bounty Hunter quite a bit over the years and those of you who have booked trips when he was will never forget him. He has the best stories to tell and he's lived every one of them! This is the Destin's 65th annual rodeo and it is the longest running fishing tournament in the state of Florida. In the beginning the rodeo was created to extend the fishing season and bring the tourists to Charter Destin for one last fall fling. The weather in October is great and the sunsets are the best of the whole year. The Charter Destin Rodeo also happens in conjunction with the Destin Seafood Festival Oct. 4th -- 6th. It's a great time and admission is free. There are all kinds of music, crafts and activities going on all day and night. It's fun for the whole family or just the grownups if you've left the kids at home. You could spend all 3 days there if you'd like but be sure to show up at AJ's and watch the weigh-in's at some time during the day!
